You\u2019re out and about, mapping out your route and trying to stay connected when suddenly your battery starts to drain\u2026 <\/span>fast<\/span><\/i>. You check your phone again and again, hoping for a miracle, but no luck \u2013 the percentage keeps dropping.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You try to conserve battery by turning off some features, closing unnecessary apps, and dimming your screen but it\u2019s not enough. Anxiety gets the better of you as you realize that you might not make it through the day without a charge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This can be a common problem for many Android and Apple users and in this blog, we\u2019ll explore some of the most common causes of battery drain and offer tips on how to fix them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Limit your push notifications<\/span><\/h3>\n

From Uber and Citymapper to food delivery updates, your phone is often flooded with unnecessary notifications. Too many alerts can drain your phone\u2019s battery quickly and it\u2019s best to turn them off if you don\u2019t need them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To turn off push notifications from an app go to <\/span>Settings > Apps & notifications. <\/b>Tap <\/span>More <\/b>or <\/span>See All <\/b>to view all the apps installed on your phone. Select the apps for which you want to limit notifications and turn them off.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Limit your background activity\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Some apps keep running in the background receiving alerts and push notifications, processing automatic updates, and refreshing content even after you\u2019ve closed them.<\/span><\/p>\n

To tackle this issue, go to <\/span>Settings ><\/b> Battery & device care > Optimize now. <\/b>Smartphones will often caution you about the apps that are consuming too much battery and you can turn them off individually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Adjust your screen brightness<\/span><\/h3>\n

This might seem cliche but turning down your screen\u2019s battery actually does prevent it from draining too fast. It can also protect your display screen from <\/span>burn-in<\/span><\/a> which can cause dark spots and permanent screen damage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go to <\/span>Settings > Display > Brightness level <\/b>and turn it down a notch (you\u2019ll also be doing your eyes a favor!) Better still, you can turn on <\/span>Dark mode <\/b>to save even more battery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Turn on battery saver mode<\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a quick fix last resort for when your phone\u2019s battery is on the brink of running out. However, it can buy you some time before you plug in your phone for the next charge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tap <\/span>Settings > Battery > Battery saver <\/b>and turn on <\/span>Power saving.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

5. Check your battery health<\/span><\/h3>\n

If the measures above fail to work, chances are that your Android\u2019s battery is on its way out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
